Access.ca introduces a new way to find lesson plans, articles, visual and multimedia resources to support Social Studies teachers in all parts of Canada. Connecting to an ever-expanding group of contributing organizations, Access.ca eliminates the frustration of searching for relevant resources through general web browsers.
Use Find Resources to search through the collections of The Canadian Encyclopedia, Historica, Library and Archives Canada, and the McCord Museum. You may customize your search, browsing through broad categories or focusing on a particular topic and time period, reading level, province and grade, and even type of resource.
When you find relevant resources, you may:
- evaluate them,
- read others' reviews,
- explore related resources chosen by your peers,
- collect them into your own library.
My Library allows you to make distinct resource collections for specific purposes. In addition, you can:
- make personal notes on how you will use each resource, and
- provide access to both the collection and your instructions for student use of the collection.
The resources available through Access.ca will continue to grow as more collections become partners in this gateway for Canadian Social Studies teachers.
